Two more names for Bharat Ratna

The unprecedented demand for the Bharat Ratna this year is growing by the day. The most recent additions to the eminent group of politicians whose names have been proposed for the country's highest civilian award are former prime ministers late Chaudhury Charan Singh and Chandrashekhar.

While the Rashtriya Lok Dal has proposed the name of Singh, Chandrashekhar's name was suggested by the Bhartiya Bhojpuri Samaj.

RLD secretary, Anil Dubey said the party had earlier demanded that Singh be bestowed the honour. BBS president Anup Pandey said Chandrashekhar was known for his pre-independence and post-independence national interest movements and should be honoured.
